Hello, I am using "Totalitarianism in Europe" as one as my sources of information. What is the source of info of that article (ex. Library of Congress.)

Are they're any specific dates, such as the sites establishment or the day that article was written?

Quoting webpage is different from books.
The page was made long time ago. YOu can see the author and date on that page. To quote, an example for your reference -

I need some information on the reliability and credibility of your site for an annotated bibliography. Could you provide me with information on the authors' credentials?

Sorry, everything is on the site. If you don't feel like confident, then don't quote it. Note that this is not an academic journal. You may want to consult APA on how to cite from website. Or look at examples below.

Hey,
awesome site. It has been really helpful for my assignment. I was just wondering if there was anything you could give me at all that supports the following in one of your pages regarding lack of funds by the Revolutionary alliance:

" ii. Financial problem - Despite the funds raised by Sun Yat-sen, the Revolutionary Alliance was still in need of money for its costly activities."

Anything you could give me regarding this, any basic facts or statistics that supported it or a reference that elaborates on this point would be reallly helpful. sorry I just can't find much that makes reference to this point and would be really useful for my history assignment.

Many thanks,

It's not written by me. Anyway I suggest you have a look at Sun Yat-sen and the origins of the Chinese revolution (Schiffrin, Harold Z. /1968). I can't guarantee u can get what u want. Some ref. in wikipedia

Just wanted to say all the information on post and pre-Meiji Restoration Japan has been really helpful studying for my IB History exams. Only thing I would add was it would be nice if it was slightly more specific at times and it often seems to avoid the Japanese terms. eg. chonin, sonno joi, aren't mentioned explicitly. Otherwise, thank you very much.

Thank you for your visit. I will improve on that later. -- Admin

Please excuse me for a technical question: I like the design of your site and find the use of static HTML documents a good idea. As I have not been able so far to find a good CMS system allowing use of static documents the way you do, I would like to ask you, if it is not a secret, what kind of CMS do you use? Thank you!

If you refer to the history topics part, then they are just ordinary webpages set up by me (with CSS). If you mean this forum, it's run on "Discus" program.

Hello,
First I want to thank you a lot for a amazing site, has been very useful. I am doing the IB Asian History, Japan and China. I was wondering if you could answer a short question for me.
For the section on the Fall of the TOkugawa you mention to differect school s accounting for the downfall of the Tokugawa, one claiming that if would enevitably fall without western intervention, another claiming that it could have survived.

What I was wondering about is if you have any names of these different schools, or writers? Also , could one apply a marxist historiographical approach to it, as an argument in an essay do you think? Do you know of any other good online resources for China or Japan?

Thank you very much

Martin from Norway.

I am not its author. I don't have more info on hand. I was told it was based on E. Herbert Norman, 1940, The Emergence of Japan as a Modern State, New York: Institute of Pacific Relations.
You can argue from Marxist perspective. It seems Beasley's work stressed more on economic causes of the downfall of shogunate. You may consult more recent works (e.g. Jansen).
There are some short useful essays in this site on Japan & China.

Hi
This is an interesting website, i've actually got an interesting assignment, which is to evuate websites, so can i know the nature of this website, meaning, from what i have gathered, anyone's free to just post an essay uP? can i know what is the origin of this website if that's not too much trouble.. =)

Treat this as personal site as it is not under any institution. It is for education/teaching purpose, esp. history.
There are more essays posted & marked in password protected topics.
There is an affiliated site on Taiji.

Hi,
I am currently doing some research and would like to list the following site for my bibliography. http://www.thecorner.org/hist/wwi/results.htm
If you could please tell me the date this site was first created, not revamped as I saw on another post. If this is taken from a book, could you please tell me the following:
Name of the book
Date of publication
Place of publication
Publisher

Thank you very much for your assistance.

The way you use web materials is different from printed ones.
I can't recall exactly when this site was created. And when it's up initially, it was almost empty. There is no point to quote that information unless you are doing special research. Web sites are always revamped for update. Anyway, for this site it should be up at about 2000.
The author is HW Poon, about 1979. That's all I got. If you feel confident enough to quote from this site, see example below to cite from the web:

World Wide Web page:
Beckleheimer, J. (1994). How do you cite URL's in a bibliography? Retrieved December 13, 1995, from  http://www.nrlssc.navy.mil/meta/bibliography.html.

World Wide Web page (no author):
Educating America for the 21st century: Developing a strategic plan for educational leadership for Columbia University-1993-2000 (Initial workshop draft). (1994). Retrieved May 16, 1995, from   http://www.ilt.columbia.edu/CONF/EdPlan.html.

World Wide Web page (no publication date)
Prizker, T. J. (n.d.). An early fragment from central Nepal. Retrieved December 12, 1996, from http://www.ingress.com/~astanart/pritker/pritzker.html.

World Wide Web Homepage
Curtin University of Technology Homepage. (1999, February 9). Retrieved February 11, 1999, from  http://www.curtin.edu.au.

This APA format should be accepted by the university.

Author is unknown; perhaps written by me some time. You may just quote the URL or anonymous for author.

Hi, I have found your site very useful in researching a japanese history paper...however I am wondering if there is an author name that I can use in writing my Works Cited.

If you mean Meiji Restoration/Japan, the author is PYL Woo, as noted at the bottom of the page.
